The Israeli military on Sunday carried out a series of airstrikes on Hezbollah targets in Lebanon.
The development came hours after Iran launched its barrage of missiles and drones against Israel.
Fox News reports that the fresh wave of Israeli attacks targeted a Hezbollah weapons manufacturing facility as well as other targets, according to the IDF.
“A short while ago, IDF fighter jets struck a number of military structures in a complex belonging to Hezbollah’s Radwan Forces in the area of Jbaa in southern Lebanon,” Israeli forces said in a statement.
“Earlier during the night, IDF fighter jets struck Hezbollah military structures in the areas of Khiam and Kfarkela.”
Israel has yet to strike Iran directly following the attack, however, and the country’s ultimate plans for a response remain unclear.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed last week to respond to any Iranian assault in kind.
Israel says airstrikes targeted Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon
Israeli warplanes carried out several airstrikes on Friday, targeting "military buildings" used by Hezbollah fighters in parts of southern Lebanon, according to the Israel Defense Forces.
The areas include the Aita al-Shaab and the Taybeh in southern Lebanon, said Avichay Adraee, IDF spokesperson for Arab media, in a post on X.
"During the day, several shells were fired from Lebanon towards the Upper Galilee region, without causing any casualties. IDF forces attacked the sources of fire," Adraee added.
The Israeli airstrikes were before the 40 rockets that were launched from Lebanon toward northern Israel Friday evening and claimed by Hezbollah.
Clashes at Lebanon-Israel border
Fighting continues on Lebanon’s southern border with Israel where Hezbollah — a Lebanese armed group backed by Iran — has its main area of operations.
Israel has ordered the evacuation of communities along the Lebanese border.
Since the start of the Hamas-Israel war on October 7, Israel's flare-up with Hezbollah has intensified in this border region.
